It's a Dogs Life

My little girl is growing up.
Tika is just over a year old now (15 months) and she works hard with her momma every day.

She has become my sidekick at work. And pretty much the barn mascot too.
And apparentaly she has claimed the Kubota as HER ride, not mine....
But she just can't help herself when there is a Jolly Ball in site....
Ah its a dogs life!

Are You Gonna Cowgirl Up or Just Lay There and Bleed?

betcha all thought I'd dropped off the face of the earth huh?

It's been one hell of a summer. And it ain't over yet.

I am still computerless. Hence my lack of posts since July. That one is in the process of getting fixed. Turned out the Mother Board on my cimputer crapped out. I'm getting it re-built. Just had to wait till I had the money....

Despite the lack of computer, I've had a severe lack of time as well. But things are settling down again so hopefully I wont be so scarce anymore.

How's everyone elses summer been? Leave a comment on what ya'll have been up to! It's gonna take me awhile to catch up on everyones blogs.....

Happy Canada Day! AND fourth of July!

Woops I know its a little late on the Canada Day front.

Give me a break we did 3 performances with drill AND went in a parade in DownTown Vancouver! I'm a little late on the posts....

I know I said I'd get rodeo pictures up from the Little Britches Rodeo, but my camera is being a pain. So it might be a bit.

ANYHOO......

I'm a happy camper.

Why am I a happy camper you ask?

Well, 'cause I'm no longer workin' 7 days a week, THATS why!

We finally got someone hired in at the barn for weekends so I can actually catch my breath once in awhile! I can't tell you how nice it was for me to sleep in until, oh 8am this morning!

But not all weekends will be quite and relaxing. With drill heading into full swing for the season we have lots of events schedualed, etc. Plus I'm starting instructing now too.

Busy busy!

Anyways time for me to go prepare for tomorow! Busy sunday ahead of me.....

And Happy Fourth of July to our friends south of the boarder!

Better Late Than Never!

lol That seems to be the story of my life lately......

I'M BACK! Again. lol.

And Melanie hit the nail on the head when she said my career change and 5-10 year plan included managing a facility of sorts.

I'm now working full time for my friend and trainer and am loving every minute of it. I've been working part time on weekends for her since November of last year. And just recently, I've taken on the full time monday-friday position. And no I'm not just a pooper scooper. (Mind you I'm a damn good one...) But I'm also managing the weekend staff, and grooming/tacking some of the training horses, putting some rides in on some of the more broke ones, as well as working her horses seeing as she's always on training horses.

And the BEST part is this... you all know I became a certified Level 2 english/western instructor back in March when I spent a week in Oregon. Well, Come July, I will be putting that certification to use and start doing some teaching of my own! Whoohooo!!!

I havent felt so good about things in a really long time. And thank goodness, my body is holding up quite well. I was worried my shoulder might decide to skip town on me. But its been 3 weeks and its not even complaining all that loudly.

And now like I promised, I have pictures! I spent a lovely weekend in Princeton, BC with my good friend Crazy Horse Girl at a mutual friends wedding. A wedding in the country, with a little red cowboy hat air freshner in the brides bouquette to boot! lol and the best part is I fit in better once I changed OUT of my 'wedding clothes' and into my jeans and boots after the ceremony!

More posts and pictures to come. I promise! There's a rodeo to talk about after all!

Early Bird Catches the Worm

Oh my its almost been a month since my last post! I`m really missing my computer...... :(

It`s 8:50am and I`ve already done all my chores at the barn and am home.

I could get used to this getting up at 5:30am to get chores done BEFORE the heat of the day sets in sorta deal.

But that would mean getting up at 5:30am every day.

Regardless, there is a method to my madness today.

Given that its hard to take a day off when your job is tending to 30 head of horses (yup, my career change means I`m at the barn FULL TIME now. Which ultimately brings me closer tyo my 5-10 year plan I mentioned in my last post....) means that if I were, say, invited to a wedding 3 hours away, I get my butt up early, do my chores, head out of town, stay the night and make my sister to chores sunday morning, and I drive back Sunday.

So now, my friends, it was a short visit. But I am off again. And I will be sure to come back refreshed a bearing pictures a plenty! As I`m heading up to what a lot of people call Ranch Country in these neck of the woods. Princeton BC.

And as for my 5-10 year plan..... more on that when I get back. Anyone that guessed it might have to do with horse is probably right. But more on that later......

I'm Sorry...

....and my computer problems continue to haunt me....

I was SUPPOSED to get on-line last night to post about what I've been up to lately, and what has lightened my mental load.

Buuuut I put my back out at the barn feeding, so I came home, had a hot shower, and went to bed.

Please don't hate me.

ANYways......

I wish I had pictures to add to this post, but I'm at work. So those will have to come later.

As you can tell from the pictures from the other day, I've been having some fun lately! And so has my dear puppy dog.

It was a busy, yet relaxing long weekend. We started it off on Friday by attending the Cloverdale Rodeo. (rodeo runs all may long weekend, from friday to monday) It was a blast. The drill team had an unfortunate fall about half way through their grand entry, but got themselves together to complete their show. A couple of our girls ride with them so I was on the edge of my seat!

Saturday morning our Drill Team rode in the Cloverdale Rodeo Parade, and placed 1st overall in the Mounted Division! Way to go girls!

Right after the parade we took the ponies home, loaded up the truck, and headed up to the lake for the rest of the weekend. Tika's first camping trip!

And from the pictures the other day, Tika's first swimming experience. hehehe. I'll have to make an attempt to upload the video of that one.... what a silly girl! She'll figure it out one of these days....

Just imagine a dog swimming straight up and down, back paws searching for ground, and front paws high stepping and splashing out of the water like crazy as she panicked for shore. Silly pup fell off the dock and had to figure it out the hard way.....

Aside from the swimming, we took her for a quad ride, which she loved. I wish I got a picture of that. She also went for a ride in the fishing boat, and for a few hikes up the Trans Canada Trail.

It was a great weekend to cap off a great past week or two.

My stress level has gone down some now that I've successfully changed career paths. I start my new job on Monday. I'm no longer in the aviation industry. And I think I'm going to like it that way. For now at least! I change my mind like the wind....

I've also had a chance to go through a lot of things with mine and CB's relationship lately. So we'll see where things go on that front. They're good for now. But that can change.

Drill is going amazingly well. The Teamwork is really coming out with the group this year and I couldn't be happier. And we've added another Pro Rodeo to our roster for the summer!

We sold the extra car we've had kicking around. And as much as I wanted to take it all and pay off what was left, I've had to 'borrow' from it a little to catch up in some other areas. so the payments aren't completely gone. But almost! Only 2 more payments left!

And finally, Dad and I are working on putting together a 5 year plan. We'll see if it all falls in to place or not. But that stories for another day.... Any ideas what it might be? We have to wait until he retires from Air Canada in the next 5 years before we'll have the time and flexibility to put this latest plan into action, but I've been doing my homework for awhile now..... we'll see where it goes.

Well, the sun is shining, tomorrow is my last day at my old job, they threw me a BBQ lunch today and tonight I have drill practice. Now if only I could deal with my lack of computer issue.... then I'd be a whole heck of a lot happier!!!! And I'm pretty happy right now!

Bring on the guesses about my 5 year plan! There might be a little prize involved for the winner ;P Now there's some incentive for ya!

A Breath of Fresh Air

I'm Back!
Did you miss me?

Hey no fibbers! :P

I am still without a computer. I think I'm starting to go through withdrawl.

But things have been busy lately so I've managed to keep myself occupied.

I'm feeling a little refreshed, not as stressed as I have been in the past few months.

And I bet you want me to tell you why now don't you?

Too bad I'm gonna tell you anyway!

Tomorow.
hehehe.....

Aren't you glad I'm back?
